My Favorite Trail
My favorite trail exists right in the heart of my city but it is a hidden gem. You have to drive along the river for quite awhile to get to it and it's tucked beyond a line of tall trees. The trail circles a large pond that is often filled with geese and ducks and beavers and muskrats.
Not only will you encounter a ton of blackbirds, chickadees and warblers, there's also an abundance of wildflowers native to our area. In the summer, the foliage is bright and green and in the fall, it becomes a cascade of shades ranging from red to orange to yellow and brown.
The best part about this trail is how low impact it is - which is great because I often struggle to walk long distances or over varying terrain. The whole walk usually takes us less than an hour and the trail is paved. There is a beautiful bridge to stand on to look out over the water and there are benches splattered about for when you need a rest.
It is not hard to understand why this is my favorite trail ever!
