Mom, where's freedom
Mom, you always told me,
"Go to the United States —
decent people everywhere,
and freedom, like a cup of tea. "
Mom, now I'm living in the U.S.,
Here, freedom, is a cup of tea:
two bucks and a fee.
ICE on the street corner,
waiting for me.
Mom, you used to tell me,
"Go to the United States —
the American dream is waiting,
hurry up and hold the key. "
Mom, now I'm living in the U.S. —
fifty pounds on my knee,
fifteen hours on my feet,
four hours' sleep like a bee,
then home past the corner,
where ICE waits for me.
Mom, you once told me,
"Go to the United States for a key;
there, every smile is high glee. "
Now, I'm living in the U.S. —
people crying at the gas station,
and I can't tell if it's glee.
Mom, where is freedom?
I'm not sure if I need'em.
Mega companies need us to feed'em.
For greedy predators, U.S. is —
A kingdom.
Mom, now I'm living in the U.S.,
working as one of Amazon's slaves;
Keeping a bottle to deal with my pee.
Maybe I should hand it to Jeff Bezos,
let him drink it as a cup of tea.
