Community Guidelines
Last updated: September 26, 2026
mochott is a blogging platform running on the AT Protocol. To keep it a place where writers can write and readers can read with peace of mind, we ask everyone to follow these guidelines.
1. Principles
- Respect others: acknowledge differences in opinion and position, and choose dialogue over attacks or belittling, in articles and comments alike.
- Safety first: take care that children, vulnerable people and psychological safety are not put at risk.
- Authenticity: do not impersonate others or engage in coordinated deception. What you publish under your name should be your own work or properly licensed.
- Follow the law: comply with Japanese law and the laws of the region where you live.
2. Prohibited Conduct
The following is not tolerated on mochott. When found, we may hide the content or restrict the visibility of the account.
2.1 Illegal activity and rights violations
- Posting, linking to or alluding to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and sexual contact with or solicitation of minors (see our Child Safety Standards Policy)
- Specific threats against others, incitement to violence, encouraging or promoting suicide, self-harm or eating disorders
- Glorification of or recruitment for violent extremism or terrorist organizations
- Impersonation, false identity, or operating accounts, blogs or minisites for fraudulent purposes
- Infringement of copyright, trademark, privacy, likeness or other rights, including reposting others' articles or images without permission
- Publishing sexual images or videos of a person without their consent, including sexual deepfakes of real people
- Selling or brokering illegal drugs, firearms or other regulated goods
- Distributing malware or phishing kits, or providing instructions intended for attacks on third parties
2.2 Harassment and discrimination
- Discrimination, insults or dehumanization based on race, ethnicity, nationality, origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, appearance or similar
- Persistent harassment of a specific individual or coordinated targeting
- Publishing personal information against someone's will (doxxing)
2.3 Spam and abuse
- Mass posting of identical or near-identical content, or mass publishing of low-quality articles auto-generated by AI or other means
- Articles whose only purpose is search-engine manipulation or driving traffic elsewhere, keyword stuffing, hidden links
- Running mutual-like or mutual-follow schemes to manipulate engagement
- Spreading harmful or fraudulent links
- Abusing topics, categories or tags unrelated to the content
- Using comments or newsletter delivery for solicitation or indiscriminate advertising
2.4 Adult and sensitive content
Articles containing sexual content, nudity, or violent or shocking imagery must carry a content label (sexual, nudity, graphic-media) set in the editor. Unlabeled content may be subject to visibility restrictions on mochott.
Sexual content that may be deemed illegal under Japanese law, court precedent or enforcement practice (such as uncensored depictions of genitalia, which constitute obscene material under Article 175 of the Penal Code) is prohibited regardless of labeling.
Sexual content depicting anyone under 18, or any character established or portrayed as a minor, is prohibited regardless of labeling, whether real or fictional (including illustrations, CG and AI-generated imagery).
For videos, posting adult content containing sexual material or nudity is prohibited regardless of content labels (self-labels), because videos are far harder to moderate than images.
mochott does not actively welcome use primarily aimed at publishing adult content. Such articles may be posted as long as they follow the rules above, but mochott may exclude them from prominent placements such as the home page, recommendations, topics and newsletters. Where we consider it unavoidable in light of how the service is actually used and feedback from the community, we may also partially change the handling of such content through revisions to these guidelines.
2.5 Prohibited commercial content
Affiliate links and sponsored content are allowed in general (see section 3), but promoting, advertising, selling or recruiting for the following is prohibited regardless of how it is presented:
- Dating services and introduction services presented as matchmaking
- Sexual services such as adult entertainment establishments, and recruitment for them
- Sexual information products or courses
- Online casinos and other gambling that is illegal to take part in from Japan
- Selling unapproved pharmaceuticals or making efficacy claims that violate the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act, unregistered investment advice or solicitation for cryptocurrency and similar assets, and recruitment for multi-level marketing schemes
2.6 Attacks on the service
- Load attacks on mochott's infrastructure (API, AppView, delivery), or abuse through vulnerabilities or reverse engineering
- Attempting to obtain other users' credentials
- Creating accounts to evade a suspension
- Misuse of paid plans or payment features
3. What Is Allowed
The following is allowed as long as it does not fall under the prohibitions above.
- Affiliate links and sponsored content: you may publish articles containing affiliate links or sponsored content. Make it clear to readers within the article that it is advertising or sponsored.
- Cross-posting your own work: you are free to republish on mochott articles you have published on other blogs or media, and to publish your mochott articles elsewhere.
- Use of AI: using AI as a writing aid is not restricted. We recommend disclosing when an article was primarily generated by AI. Mass publishing of low-quality generated articles falls under the prohibition in 2.3.
4. Protected Expression
Clearly labeled satire and parody, journalism, education, security research, whistleblowing in the public interest, and sharing of already-public official information are generally protected even when the subject finds them unpleasant. This does not apply where they incite illegal activity or turn into direct attacks on individuals.
5. Enforcement
When a violation is confirmed, mochott may take the following actions. The level depends on the severity of the violation.
- Hiding the article or comment on mochott, and removing it from lists, search and the home page
- Warnings, or restricting specific features (comments, newsletters, minisites, custom domains, etc.)
- Suspending the account's visibility (on mochott only)
- Reporting to law enforcement. In particular, when the following illegal activities are suspected, we may report them to the police or other investigative authorities and respond to lawful inquiries and disclosure requests.
- Posting or distributing child sexual abuse material
- Death threats, intimidation or incitement to violence
- Encouraging or assisting suicide
- Distribution of obscene material (Article 175 of the Penal Code of Japan)
- Selling or brokering illegal drugs, firearms or other regulated goods
- Fraud, or obtaining money or personal information through impersonation
- Unauthorized access or theft of credentials
mochott controls visibility based on labels applied by the moderation services (labelers) it works with. Readers can also choose, from their settings, whether to show or hide each label and can mute specific writers.
About the nature of the AT Protocol: mochott is an AppView (a display and aggregation layer); article and comment data itself is stored on the user's PDS. Even when hidden on mochott, the data remains stored on the PDS. Complete removal requires deletion by the user.
6. Reporting
If you find a violation of these guidelines or are affected yourself, use "Report" in the menu of the article, comment or profile. Reports are sent to the moderation service mochott works with.
Contact by email: biz[at]spuit.tech
If possible, include the URL of the article or comment (at:// or its mochott permalink).
7. Changes to These Guidelines
These guidelines are revised from time to time in light of AT Protocol changes and community feedback. Significant changes will be announced on mochott.
