About Miracles

Sepia toned sheet of paper with printed text. The header says: "Some of the Miracles performed by Yrius and other Lightbearers"

The text follows:
"Specific abilities and methods vary for every Lightbearer. Still, most commonly performed miracles can be described by their archetypes, which include the following:

Spheres: energy fields projected around Lightbearer. The most commonly used one is Shield: a protective field against melee attacks, projectiles, and darkness. A variation of it, Shroud, protects from elements and debris and slows down the fall. Spheres can also be used offensively, like Scatter that explodes a Shield outward."

A row of images, showing examples of Sphere miracles from chapter one. Shield: the hunter crossing his wrists in front of him to shield. Shroud: the hunter descending along the falling shards of broken skylight, left hand up projecting half-sphere above as if an umbrella or a parachute. Scatter: the hunter's hand sending a wave of light that tears a shadow into spatter of black ichor.

An image of a gloved hand projecting bright beam of light, with the text: "Beam: powerful offensive miracle, used exclusively against shadows. Hard to master, energy consuming, and generally dangerous to use: hitting a human, even accidentally, instantly turns its user to darkness."
A row of images. Illumination: the hunter dropping on one knee and touching the floor with a gloved hand, sending a wave of concentric circles of light, his own figure starting to glow. Beacon: the temple, a complex yet strictly geometrical, massive structure with a mirror facade, two pillars of light rising from its two towers. Flare: two hands projecting a ball of light, weaved from thin glowing strands, from which a glowing pillar rises.

The text explains: "Pillars are most known to the public due to their visual presentation, being always seen around temples and during ceremonies. Illumination's main goal is to detect darkness: for every person in its radius, it shows the amount of Light or darkness in them, with prominent pillars of Light on Lightbearers and a black aura on shadows. Beacons, seen on temple towers, ward off shadows but attract dark seeds, so the affected person can be healed before darkness consumes them. Flare can be seen and felt by every Lightbearer in its vicinity, even with no direct line of sight to it, and is a common signal for help. Any Pillar can stay up for a long time until fading or being dissipated by its caster."

An image from chapter two: the priestess's hands, glowing bright white, reach towards the hunter's wounded face. The text reads: "Healing: crucial power that ensures the church's position in society. From first aid to deep regenerative care to mental help, Healing supports medicine-based public healthcare, but also prolongs Lightbearers' lives, with High Priests' lifespans usually pushing the limits of what's humanly possible. (And Yrius doesn't have it.)"
Series logo: bright white triangular gem with dark red letters "The Hunter", the chapter name under it: "2. Obtentus"
